We love learning indoors and out. We find out about the world by exploring out surroundings and our environment is full of exciting things to help us learn.
This year the staff working in Class R are Mrs Gibson, Miss Howell and Miss Wray.
|Our school day starts at 9.00am. Please be ready and waiting outside the Reception gate at 8.55am. The school day finishes at 3.30pm, please wait at the Reception gate and we will send your child out to you.
Staff will be available to talk to at the end of school day.
PE is every Monday and Friday. Please make sure your child has the correct kit (especially shoes!). They will need a plain white t-shirt, blue shorts and plimsoles or trainers. The kit will stay in class and be sent home at the end of each half term to be washed.
Homework will go out on a Wednesday and should be completed and returned by the following Tuesday.

|Please read every day with your child and write this in their diary. Your child will bring a book home in their folder from their tag. Please also practice
• Maths – every child will have to complete 1 piece of maths homework. This will be related to the learning we have done in class.
• Phonics – as we learn our letters and sounds children will be expected to practice the letters and sounds they have been learning that week. We will be sending Bear words home later in the year for children to learn to read and write.
• Topic – We may also send homework relating to our topic. This may be something we want the children to bring in from or make at home.
We have included the links to the books we have been reading in class.
What we have been learning
This half term we will be exploring Traditional Tales
The stories we will focus on will be, Goldilocks and the three bears, The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk.
We will be reading lots of traditional tales and finding out all about the characters and what happened to them in the stories. We have set up mini roleplay areas so that we can retell the stories using puppets and soft toys.
We will be writing our own simple versions of the stories as well as writing speech bubbles, creating story maps, character descriptions and letters.
We will be using BEAR words as well as using our phonic knowledge to help us write more independently.
We will be learning about numbers 10-20. We will be learning to count out objects, add and subtract as well as writing the numerals. We will be exploring shapes, including 3D shapes finding out about the different size of things when we meet the Three Bears from Goldilocks.
We will also be looking lots at different kinds of materials, what floats and sinks, what is waterproof, and what stays up when the wolf tries to blow our house down!
We have got a shop in our outdoor role play area. We will be writing shopping lists and spending money. We will go and visit the local supermarket to see what its like to work in a shop. We have also got the Three Bears kitchen in our classroom. We will learn how to make porridge and look out to make sure Goldilocks doesn’t come and eat it!
How can you help at home?
Help us complete our homework and read with us at least 3 times a week. Help us to read and write our Bear words so that we can read and write with more confidence. You can show us the Julia Donaldson Stories on YouTube or read us the books (if you have them at home).
